2026 Update for Couples:The stunning property formerly known as Fields on West Lake has been beautifully reimagined as The Eddie Hotel & Farm. While the name has changed, this 75-acre estate remains a premier destination for Prince Edward County weddings. If you are planning a celebration at The Eddie, the technical and musical tips from Matt & Tasha’s legendary night below are more relevant than ever for this iconic Red Barn space.
The Vibe: City Energy in the County
Matt and Tasha are the definition of "life of the party." I first met them while I was DJing another wedding, where they were firmly anchored on the dancefloor all night. They were wild, funny, and clearly loved music—exactly the kind of couple that makes my job a blast.
When they asked me to bring my Toronto sound out to Prince Edward County for their epic barn wedding, I knew we were going to create something special.
The Challenge: DJing at The Eddie Hotel & Farm
Prince Edward County is no longer a "hidden gem"—it’s a premier destination for city-dwellers looking for that picturesque, rustic setting. However, heritage spaces like the Red Barn at The Eddie come with unique technical challenges that a professional DJ must navigate:
Acoustics in High-Ceiling Spaces: Large barns are beautiful but can easily become "echo chambers." For Matt and Tasha’s night, I focused on a high-fidelity sound setup that kept the music punchy on the dancefloor without making speeches sound "boomy" or distorted in the rafters.
Multi-Zone Audio Flow: The Eddie offers incredible variety, from pond-side ceremonies to cocktails by the Sheep Shed. I specialize in providing seamless audio transitions across these multiple "zones" so the energy never dips as guests move through the property.
Power Logistics: Remote PEC properties require careful power management. Ensuring your DJ has dedicated, clean power is the difference between a seamless party and a mid-set technical glitch.
The Soundtrack: Open-Format Mastery
I shared DJ duties with my good friend and turntablist extraordinaire DJ Timfamous, who was also a groomsman in the wedding party. We traded off sets, starting with a sophisticated mix of Motown, Top 40, and classic rock hits to set the tone during dinner.
As the night progressed, we leaned into our "open-format" strengths:
Early Night: Classic Soul, Funk, and feel-good throwbacks.
Peak Hour: 90s/00s Hip-Hop and Dancehall anthems.
The Finale: High-energy tracks that kept Matt, Tasha, and their guests moving until the very last song.
